Brave Center

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students nationally, but this past year for A&M it was the first. The Brazos Valley has no mental health residential facility and lacks the crisis resources to uphold its population. The Brave Center exists to offer the education, training, and resources necessary to ensure that suicide never has to be option.

The Problem: People in pain don’t reach out for help- unseen. If they do, their community doesn’t know how to help- unequipped. If they did, there’s a lack of local resourcing to provide help- unsupported.

Our Solution:

Seen: We offer a 10-week long Skills Group to ensure that everyone has what they need to get through the trials of life without having to contemplate suicide as an option. We provide authentic community and have a team of people ready to meet you with genuine care.

Equipped: While 94% of adults report a willingness to take action if someone close to them was considering suicide, only 53% report having the confidence to do so. We provide training and education to the community so that you know how to care for those around you when they need it.

Supported: We are raising funds to launch our first walk-in location in 2027- a place to go to receive immediate care and practical resources so that you don't have to figure out your next best step on your own.

The Vision:

You've probably heard the phrase "hurt people hurt people," but at The Brave Center we believe that people heal people

We want to connect you to professional help when needed, but also want to use the power of genuine connection to bring help and healing in other's lives. We remove suicide as an option by working on both sides of the problem: we make sure people get the care they need so they don't have to suffer alone by connecting them with those who want to get trained to help, making sure the Brazos Valley is a place that is better together.
