About The Bridge Ministries

The Bridge Ministries is a local, faith-based food pantry that has been fighting food insecurity in the Brazos Valley since 2010. Our mission is to eliminate hunger in the Brazos Valley by feeding bodies and souls. As the only evening-based pantry in Brazos County, we serve 750+ families each month, with each family receiving 60-80 pounds of groceries — including fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meat, bread, pantry staples, and hygiene items. We view every piece of food we distribute as physical evidence of God's love and providence, and we pray that every family who receives it feels God's love and provision through this gift. This year, our goal is to raise $20,000, so we can continue to be a trustworthy, reliable resource for community members.

Food Distributions

We distribute food in two ways:

Neighbors Choice: Our Tuesday distribution where volunteers walk neighbors through our food pantry so they can pick out their own groceries. We launched the program in December 2025, and demand has skyrocketed ever since. At launch, just 7% of neighbors received food through Neighbors Choice; by July, we were serving 70-80 families each Tuesday — about 25% of all families who receive food from us.

Neighbors Choice lets people choose groceries that fit their dietary needs and cultural preferences. One neighbor undergoing cancer treatment said the program finally let her receive food she could actually use, without creating waste.

Thursday Evening Drive-Thru: Our after-hours distribution, born out of necessity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Neighbors drive through and volunteers load groceries directly into their cars — no walking, no lines inside. It remains the only food pantry distribution in the county held after work hours, making it a lifeline for neighbors who work during the day or face mobility challenges that make an in-person, walk-through pantry difficult. Today, it serves roughly 75% of our 750+ monthly families, reflecting the ongoing need in our community. Rooted in our Christian faith, we see this distribution as an act of love in action, meeting our neighbors where they are, literally, and removing barriers so that anyone in need can receive food with dignity and without judgment.

Community Referrals

Recognizing that food insecurity comes with other challenges, The Bridge Ministries also connects neighbors with other community resources and churches. We have relationships with many nonprofits in town, and we love linking arms with them to holistically serve our community.

Seasonal Programs

We also put on several seasonal programs each year, including hosting a Summer Park Day and giving out backpacks. Check out the "Programs" page to learn more about our seasonal projects!

Volunteer Opportunities

We have numerous opportunities for community members to volunteer throughout the week — we typically have over 90 people volunteer each week. For folks interested in serving more behind-the-scenes, we have volunteer shifts dedicated to packaging cans, unloading and sorting through donations, and helping with administrative work. We have shifts every week to serve during food distributions, helping load grocery carts with food, direct traffic, and pray with our neighbors.
