Unbound Now is Leading the Fight Against Human Trafficking

Last year, our team responded to over 100 urgent calls and served more than 220 clients. At 3 a.m. in a hospital room. On the phone with a terrified teenager. Beside a survivor in a courtroom. Every single time, an Unbound Now advocate answered.

In 2026, we've already served 210 clients, and the year isn't over. The need is growing, and we are here to meet it.

Our team of specialized, full-time advocates walks alongside survivors right here in Bryan-College Station and across nine counties in the Brazos Valley, providing emergency crisis response, long-term case management, and the tools needed to heal and thrive. From the first call forward, we help survivors feel seen, heard, and supported. Because of this consistent, relational support, survivors reach milestones that once felt impossible: stable housing, employment, education, family reunification, and long-term safety.

Rooted in the Brazos Valley

In 2022, Unbound Now partnered with the Brazos County Sheriff's Office to launch the Brazos Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, uniting local agencies across a nine-county region to identify victims, provide comprehensive survivor support, and hold traffickers accountable in our courts. Our team provides 24/7 crisis response and ongoing case management to survivors in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Lee, Madison, Robertson, Washington, and Walker counties.

Unbound Now prevents trafficking by reaching youth before exploitation begins. Through prevention education delivered in schools, the Brazos County Juvenile Detention Center, and community settings, our staff equips young people to recognize trafficking risks, understand healthy relationships, and identify safe adults. Since launching in the Brazos Valley, we've empowered more than 1,200 youth through prevention programming and trained over 14,000 professionals in education, healthcare, law enforcement, and social services to recognize and respond to trafficking.

Our work reaches across classrooms, courtrooms, churches, and kitchen tables throughout the Brazos Valley.

Unbound Now is proudly endorsed by the Office of the Texas Governor's Child Sex Trafficking Team, a recognition of the integrity and effectiveness of our work.

Why This Work Matters

Traffickers use force, fraud, and coercion to exploit vulnerable youth and adults for sex or labor. They build trust, create dependency, isolate victims, and manipulate them with promises of love, protection, or opportunity. Sometimes traffickers are strangers. Sometimes they are family members. Sometimes they are employers exploiting immigration status or withholding wages.

Many survivors do not immediately recognize they are being trafficked. And even after escape, healing is long and complex. Some return to traffickers because trauma bonds are powerful and recovery is difficult.

That is why Unbound Now’s advocates stay. We build trust over months and often years. We answer the late-night calls. We show up, again and again, until survivors no longer walk alone.

Testimonials

A survivor was connected with an Unbound Now advocate, and they began to build rapport. The advocate provided education on the cycle of domestic violence and emotional attachments. As she started to grow in awareness of her victimization, she decided to report her abuse to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office. The advocate supported the survivor as she provided significant information that opened multiple investigations. We are proud of this survivor's growth and the multidisciplinary support Unbound Now was able to provide for her.
