In 2016 I volunteered for the very first time, not knowing a single soul. My buddy for the week was Caleb he was 9 years old and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. I was terrified to have to help someone else survive because at 16 years old I wasn’t capable of fully caring for my self, but little did either of us know that Jesus would use Caleb as his vessel to change my life forever. Although he was 9 and a punk he spoke truth, at this point in my life I never interacted with someone with special needs my entire life so I really asked him some questions that maybe you shouldn’t ask a 9 year old. I asked him about his diagnosis, how it affected and how people viewed him and how we conquers those feelings daily. At the time I was struggling with my own body confidence and bullying and he said to me, “you and me are beautifully and wonderfully created by God” and since then I’ve known my calling and it’s to multiply that truth.
