A Hopeful Harvest

OUR MISSION

To foster a community that respects the dignity of every human being, where everyone has access to nutritious foods and health resources. We will build authentic, non-judgmental relationships and welcome diverse opinions and backgrounds. 

OUR HISTORY

A Hopeful Harvest originated from training provided by the Episcopal Health Foundation. Our mission was to move away from transactional outreach to community engagement. The REACH Project, Santa Teresa Catholic Church, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Aggie Men's Club, and community volunteers worked with Brazos Valley Food Bank to start Brazos Mobile Food Pantry. The Boys and Girls Club of the Brazos Valley shared their location. 

For two years, on one Saturday per month, we've provided 50-75 lbs. of food to 400 food-insecure households. With the faithful support of students, religious groups, community service volunteers, and civic groups, we've served over 2,500 local families.

A Hopeful Harvest was founded to allow us to become an Agency Partner of Brazos Valley Food Bank. Our Brick-and-Mortar Pantry at 3609 E. 29th St., Suite 109 in Bryan, Texas opened on May 24, 2025.  

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

On Friday afternoons, our faithful volunteers assist with unloading 2,000 pounds of food from Brazos Valley Food Bank, purchased at 19 cents per pound.  We supplement that with fresh fruits and produce from local grocery stores.  

Saturday is our distribution day.  A grocery cart is provided for families to choose the items from our shelves, refrigerators, and freezers.  Our volunteers assist with bagging, provide information about the items on our shelves, and assist with transporting selected items.  We serve approximately 50 families each week.
