Cactus Ranch Rescue

We are so excited to be participating in Brazos Valley Gives this year, and we want to take a minute to tell you exactly who you’re supporting when you choose Cactus Ranch Rescue. ❤️

Cactus Ranch Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue based in Bryan/College Station, Texas. We began rescuing in 2018 and have continued growing our reach throughout the Brazos Valley and across Texas. We primarily rescue dogs, but when resources allow, you’ll also find cats and the occasional other critter sneaking their way onto the ranch.

Our animals come to us from all kinds of circumstances:

🐾 Overcrowded and high-risk shelters

🐾 Owner surrenders and families experiencing hardship

🐾 Abandonment and neglect cases

🐾 Hoarding situations

🐾 Moms and entire litters

🐾 Seniors who suddenly find themselves homeless

🐾 Heartworm-positive animals

🐾 Medical, mobility and special-needs cases

🐾 Animals who simply need someone willing to give them another chance

And sometimes, that “yes” is a BIG one.

Medical rescue has become a huge part of what we do. We routinely care for animals requiring surgeries, extensive dental work, heartworm treatment, diagnostics, wound care, chronic-condition management, mobility equipment, medications and months of rehabilitation. We’ve taken in animals who are paralyzed, severely neglected, medically fragile or simply considered “too expensive” or complicated for many places to take on.

Because we are foster based, our animals don’t live in rows of kennels. They live in homes where we can learn who they really are, address their medical and behavioral needs and prepare them for successful forever families.

📊 So what does that look like in real numbers?

In our recent monthly reports we’ve seen anywhere from 14 to 48 new animals enter our program in a single month, while completing 34–37 adoptions during those reported months. Across those reports, that averages roughly 31 new intakes and 36 adoptions per month.

In August alone, we welcomed 48 animals — 21 dogs and 27 cats — and celebrated 34 adoptions. In May, we celebrated an incredible 37 adoptions.

Those numbers represent more than statistics. Every single one is an exam, vaccines, testing, preventatives, microchip, spay or neuter, food, supplies, medications, transportation and, very often, unexpected medical care.

💚 THAT is why Brazos Valley Gives matters to us.

Cactus Ranch Rescue receives no city or county funding. We are community funded. When a broken pelvis comes through our door, when a senior needs extensive dental work, when a heartworm-positive dog needs months of treatment, or when a shelter calls us about an animal with nowhere else to go, our ability to say YES depends on the people standing behind us.

Funds raised through Brazos Valley Gives will help cover:

🩺 Veterinary care and emergency treatment

💉 Vaccines, testing and preventatives

✂️ Spay and neuter procedures

❤️ Heartworm treatment

🦷 Dental procedures and surgeries

💊 Medications and long-term medical care

🦽 Special-needs and mobility cases

🏡 Food and supplies for foster homes

🚗 Transportation and rescue expenses

🐾 And the next animal who needs us before we even know their name

We also do our best to support people in our community when resources allow — whether that means helping with pet supplies, connecting families to veterinary resources or providing an alternative to surrendering an animal into an already overcrowded shelter system.

Every dollar raised during Brazos Valley Gives gives us more room to say:

“Yes, we can take them.”

“Yes, we can get them treated.”

“Yes, they deserve a chance.”

We couldn’t do this without our fosters, adopters, volunteers, veterinary partners, donors and the community that continues to show up for these animals over and over again.

This Brazos Valley Gives, we hope you’ll choose to stand behind the little rescue doing some very big things. 🌵❤️🐾
