Next Door Communities

My Place in Aggieland is creating a residential community in the Bryan–College Station area where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can live with greater independence, safety, purpose, and belonging. For many families, one of their greatest concerns is, “What will happen to my son or daughter when I am no longer able to care for them?”

Our vision is to provide an answer: a permanent community where adults with IDD have a place to call home, build meaningful friendships, participate in work and community activities, and live as independently as possible.

Our goal is to build an attainable community of 20 residences centered around a community gathering space and supported by programs that promote growth, independence, and connection to the greater Aggieland community.

My Place in Aggieland is an initiative of Next Door Communities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions through Brazos Valley Gives will help us turn this vision into reality by supporting the planning, development, and creation of a community designed to serve adults with IDD and their families for generations to come. Together, we can build more than housing—we can build a home, a community, and a future.
