St. Vincent de Paul Society of Bryan/College Station

The St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVdP) BCS is a Catholic lay organization of dedicated women and men, an outreach arm of our 5 Catholic Churches. We serve our community and our neighbors in need without discrimination. The SVdP Society provides assistance to our neighbors with rent, utilities, food, clothing, and furniture. 

The St. Vincent de Paul Furniture Ministry is a volunteer effort that seeks to place new or gently used furnishings and household goods in homes that desperately need them. The furniture ministry is the only one of its kind in the community, but it coordinates with other agencies to identify and help those in greatest need.

Every day in the Brazos Valley, families are trying to rebuild their lives with almost nothing. Some sleep on the floor because there is no bed. Some share meals without a table or chairs. Others are starting over after fires, homelessness, or crisis--grateful to have a roof overhead, but with an empty space that doesn't yet feel like home.

Thanks to expanded space and the generosity of donors, we served 190 families last year. This year, we are on pace to serve 240 families--a dramatic increase that reflects the growing number of neighbors facing hardship.

Before they left, they took the time to pray with me, which meant more to me than words can express. Their team truly has kind hearts, and I am forever grateful for the dignity and comfort they restored to my life when I needed it most.

A woman starting over as a former victim of domestic violence asked for a few things for her apartment, including a washer and dryer. She was told that we rarely get those donated. Several days later we had them donated and was able to surprise her with them. She was very grateful.
