Six Kittens Rescue was founded on a simple belief: every life, no matter how small, deserves a chance.

How We Got Started

Our founders spent two years picking up abandoned and orphaned kittens and getting them the care they so desperately needed. When a friend reached out asking for assistance for his mom, our founders were eager to help. The first night, they were able to rescue six of the 10 kittens. When they got the kittens all set up, they looked at one another and decided they weren’t in this fight alone. It was in that moment that Mallori and Jai decided to found Six Kittens Rescue. The kittens were named Nutmeg, Pumpkin, Allspice, Clove, Pillsbury, and Pie. Nutmeg was the smallest of the group and suffered complications far too much for her little body to handle. To always honor her, you can look closely at our logo and see Nutmeg’ face.

Since our founding, Six Kittens Rescue has helped nearly 2,000 vulnerable kittens not only survive, but thrive. We are a completely foster-based, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, meaning every dollar entrusted to us directly supports lifesaving veterinary care, medications, kitten formula, medical equipment, and essential supplies.

Our Mission

Our mission is to deliver exceptional, specialized care, fostering their growth and well-being. We are equally committed to empowering our community through education on responsible cat care, highlighting the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent overpopulation. Our Full-Circle TNR Programs embody our commitment to holistic, sustainable solutions for community cats' welfare and we have returned more than 700 community cats, helping reduce suffering and break the cycle of overpopulation..

Why Neonatals?

Kittens under eight weeks old are among the most vulnerable animals in rescue, which is why they are a primary focus of Six Kittens Rescue. Many are only hours or days old when they arrive. Unable to eat independently, regulate their body temperature, or fight off illness, these kittens require intensive, around-the-clock care simply to have a chance at life. Even after kittens graduate from the bottle, they can remain especially susceptible to illness, dehydration, poor weight gain, and other complications that can become serious very quickly. Many traditional shelters simply do not have the staffing, foster resources, or time needed to provide the intensive and individualized care these young kittens require. Our volunteers become their family, providing a safe place for kittens throughout those critical first eight weeks, giving them the nutrition, medical attention, socialization, and support they need to grow into healthy cats ready for loving forever homes. Six Kittens Rescue is the only neonatal-focused rescue in the area and has been recognized by the Orphan Kitten Club for it's outstanding work. 

Adoptions

At Six Kittens Rescue, we take great care in matching each cat or kitten with a safe, loving, and permanent home. Before going to their forever homes, our kittens are provided with all their shots including their PRCP series, Rabies, Monthly Prevention, a Microchip and are spayed/neutered before being adopted. Our adoption process is thorough and designed to ensure that every adopter is prepared to provide lifelong care. All animals adopted from Six Kittens Rescue are required to live indoors only, and adopters agree to keep them up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and routine veterinary care throughout their lives. These requirements help protect the health and safety of both our adopted animals and the pets already in the home while giving each kitten the best opportunity for a happy, healthy, and permanent future. 

Community

While on the surface we may appear to serve strictly kittens, we love and value our community. We invest in community education, providing resources and outreach that empower residents throughout the Brazos Valley to become advocates for responsible pet ownership and animal welfare. If we can't help, we'll always provide you with a list of others who can. 

How You Can Help

The need has never been greater. Since 2018, the cost of veterinary care, kitten formula, medications, and even basic necessities like food has nearly doubled, while the number of kittens needing our help continues to rise each year. Despite these growing challenges, our mission remains unchanged: to ensure that the tiniest, most vulnerable kittens are given the opportunity not just to survive, but to experience a lifetime of love.
