Middleway Urban Monastery

Our mission is to provide space for those seeking hope, comfort and peace as they explore ways of experiencing God's love. We welcome all, especially those who feel spiritual but not religious as well as all who are spiritual seekers.

Middleway Urban Monastery provides a space to dabble with one's spirituality, either on your own or with our community of spiritual directors and guests from all walks of life. No proselytizing, no telling you how to think, no judging. We allow you to question and discover God. 

"Middleway" comes from the ancient phrase, "via media," which is to go by the middle, as in everything in moderation, neither too far to the right or left.

We started in 2020 in response to the Pew Research Institute's report on Religion in America, which indicated a decline in people affiliating with any religion.  We are a new concept, not only for the Brazos Valley but in the nation. We want to maintain and grow this effort to reach people who are spiritual seekers. We believe it is good for the community.

We are not a church but a godly place for people to come and explore their spirituality free of charge. But as we operate 100 percent by volunteers (no paid staff), donations are accepted to pay for lease, utilities and incidentals. Drop in for a visit and/or attend a special program.
