Omas House Inc
About this Organization
There is a story behind Oma's House. There always is. My son was diagnosed with a mental illness around 20 years old. He was in and out of hospitals and boarding homes in the Houston area. He was physically and emotionally abused in these homes. Oma's House was to be the answer so that I can bring him home to Bryan. We were to open August 1, 2021. On July 2 tragedy struck and my son lost his battle with mental illness and past away. My heart was broken and I wasn't sure if I could still open Oma's but decided he would still want me to help anyone I could that was in the same situation he was in. He was 32 years old. We are here to help Adult Men that are diagnosed with a mental illness. They have to have a support system in place-including a doctor and an income. We are self funded. They must be willing to take their medication as prescribed by their doctor. The men live in the home as brothers. They share the chores and take care of their own personal space. This gives them a little feeling of independence. If we can figure out a way to make this work we would love to duplicate this and help more people.
