Scotty's House Brazos Valley Child Advocacy Center

Scotty’s House is the Brazos Valley’s Child Advocacy Center (CAC)—a welcoming, child-friendly place where child victims share their experience, receive trauma-informed medical evaluations, and return for ongoing counseling and therapy. We work shoulder-to-shoulder with law-enforcement partners, medical professionals, prosecutors, and CPS so every child can move from crisis to confidence.

Founded in 1995, Scotty's House is dedicated to the memory of Scotty, the son of a local pediatrician. In 1982, four-year-old Scotty was tragically taken from his daycare by his father and later killed. His story galvanized our community to ensure that children facing abuse would always have a place of protection, hope, and unwavering support. Today, we carry Scotty’s legacy forward by helping thousands of kids reclaim their childhood.

We provide at no cost to the families we serve:

• Forensic Interviewers which ensure children participate in a respectful, recorded conversation - capturing the facts without repeated questioning.
• Medical Professionals provide compassionate, dignity-focused evaluations to document evidence and reassure kids they’re safe.
• Licensed Mental Health Providers guide children and non-offending caregivers through evidence-based counseling—for as long as it takes.
• Family Advocates coordinate resources, answer questions, and celebrate every step forward.

Scotty’s House remains neutral in every investigation. Our sole focus is the child’s safety, healing, and justice.

Since 1995 we have helped over 14,000 children. 

In 2025:

• 1,019 children began their healing journey
• 671 forensic interviews conducted
• 644 families received advocacy and support services
• 155 medical exams conducted
• 2,933 counseling sessions provided
• 968 cases reviewed by our MDT

Scotty's House is the only nonprofit in the Brazos Valley involved in the investigation of crimes against children and the only provider of trauma-informed mental health services.
