A Hot Meal, A Caring Heart

The exterior of the building recently received a beautiful facelift, and the parking lot was resurfaced—both of which were desperately needed. But when you walk inside, there is still a tremendous need.

For BV Meals on Wheels to continue doing what they do every day for people in our community, they urgently need new kitchen appliances, and the kitchen itself is in need of a complete renovation.

The new appliances alone will cost approximately $80,000, and the total renovation is expected to cost around $250,000.

Those numbers may sound overwhelming. They did to me too.

But then I think about the people I have met through volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

I have seen firsthand what a meal can mean to someone who may be spending much of their day alone. I have seen the smiles. I've seen the excitement when someone receives a hot meal. And I've experienced those few minutes of conversation that can mean so much to a person who may not have had another visitor that day.

It's easy to think that a $5 donation isn't enough to make a difference.

But what if all of us gave just $5?

I have more than 800 friends here on Facebook. I know everyone won't be able to donate, and I completely understand that. But if even 800 of us gave $5, that's $4,000 toward the kitchen equipment.

Five dollars might be the price of a coffee. It might be a small purchase we wouldn't think twice about. But when hundreds of people come together, those small gifts become something much bigger.

They become a new refrigerator.
They become a working oven.
They become a renovated kitchen.
They become hot meals delivered to someone's door.
They become a friendly face and a few minutes of conversation.
And most importantly, they become a reminder to someone that their community hasn't forgotten about them.

That is why I'm asking you to consider giving.

I wouldn't ask if I didn't believe in this organization and the difference it makes. I have seen that difference with my own eyes, and it has touched my heart.

If you are able, please consider making a donation—whether it's $5, $25, $50, or whatever you can comfortably give. And if you can't donate right now, sharing this could be just as valuable. You never know who might see it and decide to help.

This organization means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to so many people who depend on it.
