NAMI Brazos Valley is a beacon of hope for individuals and families facing mental health challenges. Our weekly hybrid support groups provide a vital space for connection and healing, and we aim to expand them into surrounding counties. We also offer free educational classes to help families better understand mental illness, recovery, and how the brain works.
What sets us apart is our lived experience. Our staff and volunteers offer empathy, guidance, and acceptance without judgment. We also provide one-on-one peer support for those who can't afford or are waiting to see a therapist-bridging a crucial gap in care. With your support, we can fund more certified peer specialists to meet growing demands.
This past year, we've built a greater sense of community through potlucks and outings like movies, bowling, and shopping. These joyful gatherings give our peers and families a chance to connect, laugh, and feel normal again.
Together, we can continue breaking stigma and offering support when it's needed most.
NAMI BV helped me shed guilt, embrace growth, and find a community that accepts me-just as I am-on my path to healing. - C. M.
NAMI BV has helped me in many ways. It's helped me with my issues and also listened to good advice on my issues from the NAMI BV members that truly care about you and are like family in the group. - B. J
Before getting help, I struggled daily with anxiety and depression. Demetris Collier and NAMI Brazos Valley gave me a safe space, tools to cope, and the support I needed to heal. Their care improved my well-being, relationships, and outlook on life. I'm grateful and now feel empowered to keep moving forward. P. J.
