This past February, a good Samaritan brought a rather bedraggled stray cat to Aggieland Humane Society. The months this cat had spent wandering around a local apartment complex left him sick and suffering. An old flea collar gouged into the skin of his neck and had to be cut away. The winter cold left him with an upper respiratory infection that clogged his breathing, gummed up his eyes and left nasty stains on his once-beautful fur. One bright light? Despite it all, this poor cat was exceptionally friendly and, finally, safe.

That cat was Mimar and, when they saw his sorry state, the staff at Aggieland Humane got right to work. They gave him medication to clear up his infection and a quiet place to rest. When he needed a little extra TLC, a dedicated foster was secured so he could recuperate amidst the comforts of a home. He had all the time he needed to heal.

Feeling stronger and looking better, Mimar returned to the shelter to find his forever home. However, one big question remained: who would give this beautiful boy a home with an FeLV diagnosis hanging over his head?

Mimar was lucky again because Aggieland Humane has invested significant time and money into providing high-quality care to shelter pets. Advanced testing revealed a happy truth: his cryptic FeLV was not a death sentence. He was unlikely to be contagious and his long-term prognosis was favorable. With a sigh of relief, Mimar’s human brought him home.

Today, Mimar continues to enjoy excellent health, car rides, and his (highly supervised!) nightly bug catching excursions. Please consider making a gift to this fundraiser so that other pets can also enjoy second chances to live up to their full, fluffy potential.

Mission: The Aggieland Humane Society provides humane care and placement for homeless and abandoned animals, promotes the human-animal bond, and promotes responsible pet ownership to enhance the quality of life for the people and animals in our community.
