Every year, you help serve thousands of pets and the people who love them. You provide safe shelter and adoption, reunite lost pets with their families, place vulnerable pets in foster homes, deliver lifesaving veterinary treatment, prevent unwanted litters, and provide food, vaccines, microchips, and other resources that keep pets where they belong… at home.

Imagine finding a litter of orphaned puppies, an injured stray, or a frightened lost pet, and having nowhere nearby to turn for help. Before 1983, that was the heartbreaking reality in the Brazos Valley. Lost and homeless pets had no safe refuge for nearly 100 miles. That changed when compassionate local pet lovers joined forces to create a haven for those in need. Brazos Animal Shelter was born.Decades of lifesaving, thanks to you!

Over the years, we moved from Finfeather Road to Leonard Road and, in 2012, became Aggieland Humane Society. As our community’s needs evolved, so did our work, expanding beyond shelter and adoption to strategic programs that help local families keep the pets they love.

Today, we’re proud to be the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the Brazos Valley.

Our name, location, and programs have changed, but our mission remains constant: to provide humane care and placement for homeless and abandoned pets, strengthen the human-animal bond, and promote responsible pet ownership.

What began as a safe place for pets with nowhere else to go has grown, thanks to generations of compassionate people like you, into a comprehensive local safety net for pets and people across our community.

Every journey home looks different.You give vulnerable pets safety!

For one pet, it may mean finding a loving adopter. For another, it may mean being reunited with the family searching for them. And for many, it means never having to leave home because their families received food, preventive veterinary care, or other support when they needed it most.

Some journeys require foster care, lifesaving surgery, heartworm treatment, behavioral support, or weeks of recovery. Others begin with a microchip, a bag of pet food, or a spay/neuter appointment that prevents a future crisis.

That is why Aggieland Humane is more than a shelter, and why your generosity reaches far beyond our doors, impacting pets and people in our community.

• Safe shelter, adoption, and lifesaving placement, including offsite adoption events and transfer partnerships
• Lost-pet reunification through microchips, licensing, identification, extended shelter holds, and resources forPets across the Brazos Valley have preventive care, because of you! searching families
• Foster care for bottle babies, nursing mothers, medically fragile pets, and pets who need additional time
• Lifesaving veterinary care, including diagnostics, surgery, heartworm treatment, vaccinations, and medical recovery
• Spay/neuter services that prevent unwanted litters and reduce future shelter intake
• Community pet support through the Pet Food Pantry, vaccine and microchip clinics, pet supplies, outreach, and education
• Behavioral care and enrichment through individualized support, playgroups, daily enrichment, and Dog Day Out
• Volunteer-powered lifesaving throughout our shelter, foster homes, community programs, and events

Aggieland Humane Society is a local, independent nonprofit. We are not a chapter or affiliate of any national animal welfare organization, and we do not receive ongoing operating funds from national organizations.
